Barre South Coleman Blvd of Mt Pleasant

Barre South Coleman Blvd of Mt Pleasant is a yoga studio in Mt Pleasant, SC, located at 735 Coleman Blvd. The studio offers barre classes that fuse yoga and ballet to create a low-impact, full-body workout using isometric movements to target specific muscle groups. Each 60-minute class begins with a warm-up including planks, push-ups, and arm work with free weights, followed by thigh and seat work using small isometric movements at the barre or on the floor, abdominal exercises, back work, and a final stretch. Instructors use verbal and physical cues to ensure safe and proper form and are available to assist participants who prefer not to be physically adjusted. The studio was founded by Brett Dunevant and her husband Brandon, who moved to Mount Pleasant in 2015 from Richmond, Virginia. Brett grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, minored in dance at James Madison University, and discovered barre at a studio in Richmond. The first studio on Coleman Boulevard opened in May 2016 after a nearly year-long buildout. Brett found her first instructors on Craigslist and trained them in a rented ballet studio while her own space was still under construction. A second studio opened in Downtown Charleston's WestEdge development in 2018, and a third location opened in Carolina Park in December 2025. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Barre South transitioned to live Zoom classes, with one class drawing 100 participants on the first day of shutdown. Barre South has served the Charleston area for over 10 years and now operates three locations, with more than 1,200 monthly active clients and over 30,000 five-star reviews. Free parking is available on Coleman Blvd, in The Boulevard parking lot, the first floor of The Boulevard parking deck, and the annex lot.

Barre South sits on Coleman Boulevard in Mt Pleasant, SC, less than a quarter mile from University School of the Lowcountry, the Spotted Crab artwork, and Jasper Green Park, and roughly a third of a mile from the General William Moultrie memorial in the Moultrie Heights area.
