Corps members make a two-year teaching commitment at partner school districts in the Lowcountry, Midlands, or Pee Dee communities. During this commitment, they receive ongoing training, coaching, and professional development. Corps members receive full salary, vacation, and health benefits provided by their school district. They also obtain a transitional grant to help offset transition and summer training costs, along with other financial incentives based on eligibility. The program offers graduate school and employer partnerships, such as deferrals, scholarships, fee waivers, and internships. Applicants must earn a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible Employment Authorization Document holder. Courtney serves on the regional team, leading alumni strategy and external partnerships. Teach For America SC supports educators in transforming student outcomes across SC’s under-resourced schools.
