Since 2006, the company has focused on sustainable landscaping that prioritizes ecological health. Owner Michael LaCasa applies an intensive study of Environmental Science and Ecosystems to every project, ensuring landscapes support both people and wildlife. The team avoids harmful chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides, instead building soil health from the bottom up using organic amendments and alternative weed control methods. Water conservation is central to their approach, with the installation of Raingardens, Drywells, Swales, and downspout disconnections to manage on-site water effectively. The firm encourages the reduction of impervious surfaces and utilizes locally sourced, recycled, reclaimed, and salvaged materials, including FSC certified and sustainably harvested wood.

Projects range from modern courtyards with geometric concrete and natural stone to productive gardens featuring raised beds for edibles and pollinator plants. Work includes sheet mulching to prepare soil, the installation of natural flagstone or basalt stone borders, and the integration of water features such as cisterns and local basalt boulders. The team works closely with clients to tailor designs to specific needs, whether for privacy, entertainment, or ecological restoration. Recent work includes bamboo removal, fence construction, and full property renovations that integrate ecological practices with modern aesthetics.

Apogee Landscapes has built a solid reputation among the customers it has served, with clients praising the team’s professionalism, flexibility, and attention to detail.
