The store began in the fall of 2001 as a fundraiser, sparked by a chance meeting in Italy with a woman who had run a similar charity shop in California. Donations were first accepted at the Perinton Town Hall, with monthly sales held in park shelters and other indoor spaces around town. By 2002, the volume of donated supplies made it possible to open a storefront at 9 1/2 North Main Street in Fairport. The store moved to 138 Fairport Village Landing in 2009, and a separate donation area was soon opened at 104 Village Landing to handle the growing volume of donated items. In November 2020, the store relocated right next to the Donation Station into its largest space yet. Every item in the shop is donated, and volunteers sort, repackage, price, and display each piece. All staff are volunteers.

Profits from Craft Bits & Pieces support the Senior Options for Independence (SOFI) Care Management and Transportation programs, which benefit senior citizens residing in Perinton. The store also supports the Elderbus Transportation programs.

The store sits at 104 Fairport Village Landing, where it operates alongside its separate Donation Station, reflecting more than two decades of volunteer-run retail serving the Perinton community.
