Rumba Y Timbal Dance Company

Rumba Y Timbal Dance Company is a dance studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It provides Latin dance training for the greater Boston area, with group classes in Salsa and Bachata and instruction in other Latin dances. Salsa classes cover the Caribbean dance known for its rhythmic footwork and partner work, while Bachata classes teach the partner dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. Private lessons give students an hour of individual attention from a teacher, whether the goal is improving turns, leading and following, or preparing for competition. Instruction runs from complete beginner through professional performer and seasoned social dancer. The studio holds a 5.00 rating from the customers who have reviewed it.

The studio is led by Artistic Director and Founder Roberto Figueroa, who shares his culture and love of dance with the communities of the greater Boston area. Its instructors include Abniel Izquierdo, a native of Puerto Rico who grew up listening to salsa music, took his first class at the studio in 2021, has performed multiple times with the company, and now teaches; Alexis Co, who began dancing in 2008 in Venezuela, was a core member of a Caracas dance team for over six years, took first place in numerous competitions, and began dancing and performing with the company in 2023; and Deysi Melgar, a native of Texcoco, Mexico.

Students can book classes through the studio's app, and an online video library lets them watch salsa and bachata level curriculums to practice at home. New students can choose an eight-class pass valid for three months, a one-month unlimited membership, or a three-month unlimited intro membership; all three include access to the video library and private lessons at a member rate. The studio is open Monday through Thursday from 6PM to 10PM.

The studio sits on Temple Street, steps from Massachusetts Avenue and about a tenth of a mile from Central Square, Western Avenue, Inman Street, the YWCA, and the Alice K. Wolf Center.
