Happy Dogs

Happy Dogs is a dog daycare and boarding facility in Waterloo, IA. Located on Jefferson Street in downtown Waterloo, the facility is state inspected and state licensed, and it serves dog owners in the area who need daytime care for their pets or overnight boarding. It holds a 4.70 rating based on Google reviews. The facility is open to dogs whose owners have completed its membership process, which involves making an appointment, submitting a vet history, and passing a temperament screening.

Happy Dogs operates as a members-only daycare and boarding facility. New members start by making an appointment, completing an application, and providing documentation from their veterinarian showing current vaccinations for rabies, distemper, and bordetella. Dogs must be at least eight weeks old and spayed or neutered by six months. Each dog then goes through a temperament screening before being admitted. Membership is free, and the facility encourages owners to sign up even if they do not need daycare right away, since boarding needs can arise with little notice. Daycare services are available by drop-in or by appointment. The facility is upfront that daycare is not for every dog, and it will not place a dog in the daycare environment if the setting is not a good fit for that individual animal.

Boarding at Happy Dogs is set up as crate boarding. Owners can bring their own crate, which the facility recommends so the dog has familiar scents, or use one of the facility's crates. A full day of daycare is included with each boarding stay, and dogs are crated only at night. Daycare on the day of pickup is free. The facility's primary concern is the safety and well-being of the dogs in its care.

Happy Dogs sits on Jefferson Street near the Leo P Rooff Expressway, about 0.1 miles from West 5th Street and West 6th Street, and roughly 0.2 miles from the POW Memorial and Washington Street. The Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center is a short distance away.
