Green Worx began in the spring of 2008, when RJ Duarte was given a lawn mower, a red wagon, and five weekly lawn mowing clients by his older brother. Owen Johnson joined in 2012 after meeting RJ on the first day of middle school, coming on board as the client base had grown beyond what RJ could handle alone. In 2014 the two settled on the name Green Worx and decided to run it as a business. In the winter of 2015 they applied to The Celebration for Young Entrepreneurs, producing a video for their application, and won first place.

The business is based on 8th Street in Golden, about a tenth of a mile from Church Ditch and the City Hall Annex, and roughly two tenths of a mile from the Golden Freeway, the Golden Branch of the Jefferson County Public Library, and Washington Avenue.

Customers describe fall cleanups that left a leaf-heavy lawn cleaner than it had been all year, retaining wall work on a large project, and quick, friendly, professional service at a good price. Green Worx is local to Golden and serves the greater Golden area.
