Golden River Sports LLC

Golden River Sports LLC is a sporting goods store in Golden, Colorado, offering kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, fly fishing, tubing and rip-boarding gear and services. Since 2004 the shop has been locally owned and operated in historic downtown Golden, and its staff are fly fishing specialists and water enthusiasts who help customers prepare for trips close to home or to distant destinations. The store carries kayaks, SUPs, tubing and fly fishing equipment, and offers demos, rentals, repairs, upgrades, instruction and guided fishing trips. It holds a rating of 4.50 from the customers who have reviewed it.

The shop is a Colorado dealer for GoBoat, a compact, lightweight boat that packs into a truck for reservoir outings, sold with bag, seat, pump, transom and electric motor. It also stocks the LavaBox portable propane campfire, including sizes and accessories. Owner Bart Pinkham took over sole ownership in 2007; he and Patty Pinkham met kayaking at the Clear Creek Whitewater Park in Golden and married in 2010. Travis took over shop management in 2024, with Jimmy Dean as assistant manager from 2025. Fly fishing guides include Kyle Perkins, who runs the day-to-day of the shop and guide business, and Jay Hayes, who has guided on Clear Creek and other area streams since moving to Golden in 2010. The shop hosts an annual swap and sale, where customers can bring in old gear to be listed for 80 percent cash or 100 percent store credit.

The store sits on Washington Avenue, a short distance from the Church Ditch canal, about a tenth of a mile from the Golden Freeway, and roughly two-tenths of a mile from 10th Street and Golden Fire Department Station 1. It is blocks from the Clear Creek Whitewater Playpark Course and the Golden Mile fishing habitat.

Golden River Sports has built its reputation in Golden on a positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it, and on more than two decades of outfitting paddlers and anglers for Clear Creek and the surrounding Colorado waters.
