He received his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, in 1990 and is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He spent four years as the managing attorney for a women's domestic violence agency in Northern Wisconsin, representing clients in divorce, child support, and contested custody cases, before returning to Green Bay in 1994 to open his own practice. He has appeared on Court TV and has been named among America's Top 100 Criminal Defense Attorneys by The National Trial Lawyers. He serves as attorney for the Antiquarian Society of Brown County and previously served on the Brown County Library Board and with the Rotary Club of Green Bay.
