Fireside Dinner Theatre

Fireside Dinner Theatre is a restaurant and entertainment destination in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. It pairs dining with live professional theatre, and it is the only Actor's Equity dinner theatre in Wisconsin. The Klopcic family has operated it for more than 60 years, and it draws couples, families and tour groups. Guests can browse the gift shops, relax in the lounge with regular or alcohol-free specialty drinks, dine in one of the dining rooms, and then watch a show in the intimate theatre-in-the-round. It holds a rating of 4.80 from customer reviews.

The Fireside began in 1964, when Dick and Betty Klopcic built a 60-by-60-foot pyramid-shaped restaurant seating 120 diners, designed by Fort Atkinson architect Helmut Ajango and named for the fireplace at its center. It was expanded four times between 1966 and 1972, and in 1978 the restaurant building was joined to a nearby former art gallery that became a 435-seat theatre-in-the-round. Ed Flesch joined as Artistic Director and went on to produce all and direct most of more than 222 productions, auditioning over 1,000 professional singers, actors and dancers each year, primarily in New York, to cast roughly 150 roles. The gift shop doubled in size in 1982, and a show lounge was added next to the main theatre in 1986. The Klopcic family was named "America's Best Restaurant Family" by Jones Dairy Farm and the Culinary Institute of America in 2006, and the Wisconsin Department of Tourism presented its Legacy Award to founder Dick Klopcic in 2011.

The theatre sits on Janesville Avenue, about a tenth of a mile from Lions Park and the Flame of Friendship public artwork, and roughly half a mile from the Rock River. Endl Park is about four tenths of a mile away.

Its long run in Fort Atkinson and its record of Broadway-caliber musicals, dining and shops under one roof have made it a destination for tour groups traveling across the United States.
