The company's history reaches back to 1855, when it began as the Beloit Paper Mill Company, born out of a humble sawmill plant. In 1892 the first paper machine was installed, and in the 1920s the operation made the switch from paper and straw to recycled waste paper as its raw material. Over the years the mill has upgraded its equipment, transitioned from coal to natural gas for more environmentally friendly production, and installed a complete stock preparation system. Six generations of family ownership have carried the business forward, and Beloit Box Board Co Inc continues to operate as one of the productive and efficient recycled paperboard mills in the Midwest.

The facility sits on 2nd Street, about a tenth of a mile from Portland Avenue and roughly a quarter mile from the Rock River, 4th Street, the Beloit Dam, and a reservoir to the north. A Health and Wellness Center is also within a short distance.

Beloit Box Board Co Inc holds a rating of 4.70. More than a century of continuous paperboard manufacturing in Beloit, carried forward through six generations of family ownership, places the company among the longest-running independent mills in the region.
