Hazelwood Elementary School

Hazelwood Elementary School is a preschool in Newcastle, WA, serving families with young students through the Renton School District. The school supports students from kindergarten and Ready K through upper elementary grades, with a school year that begins in late August. Families can reach the main office at 425-204-4550 or the attendance line at 425-204-4560, and the office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 4:00pm and on Fridays from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

The school's stated vision centers on inspiring a love of learning and helping every student grow as a creative and critical thinker. Families are kept informed through a school calendar featuring events such as a Musical or Art Event Meet and Greet, and ongoing school news that includes updates on school supplies, newsletters, family events, and visitors to the campus. Hazelwood Elementary was recognized for Student Achievement by the State Education Office, and the school operates within a broader system of student support that includes health services, immunization oversight, medication protocols for students with life-threatening conditions, and nursing care plans required by Washington state before a student may begin school. Staff and parents have access to digital tools including Skyward, payments portals, bus route information, and a staff directory, and the school participates in district-wide programs such as Canvas, ParentSquare, and the Washington State Assessment Portal.

The campus sits on 116th Avenue SE, about a fifth of a mile from Madison Lane Park and roughly the same distance from Risdon Middle School. Hazelwood Park is about half a mile away, and Newcastle Way and 112th Avenue Southeast are both within a short distance of the school.

The recognition from the State Education Office for Student Achievement reflects the school's standing within the Renton School District and the broader Newcastle community it serves.
