The facility sits on a hill above the historic fishing community of Gig Harbor and includes a funeral home, chapel, crematory, and cemetery with unique gardens. The site’s history dates back to 1954, when Perkins Funeral Home purchased land adjacent to Highway 16 for use as a cemetery, completing its first burial that year. Richard and Ruth Berg purchased the business in 1964, immediately beginning construction of an on-site funeral home and naming the cemetery Haven of Rest Memorial Park. The current funeral home and chapel building was completely renovated in 1989. To meet growing demand, the mausoleum facility at the cemetery entrance was renovated and expanded in 1996, and an on-site crematory facility was constructed in 1997.

Haven of Rest Funeral Home continues to expand its services with new burial gardens, cremation niches, niche walls, and garden-like places for the permanent placement of cremated remains or memorial nameplates. The team manages every detail with dignity and precision, handling legal and cultural requirements while offering pre-planning options to ease the burden on loved ones. Services can be held at the funeral home, the final resting place, or the family’s home, with or without an urn present. The business partners with The Arbor Day Foundation to plant memorial trees and provides online Remember Pages where friends and family can upload photos and add memories to create lasting tributes.

The business maintains a solid reputation among the customers it has served and has a steady record of repeat and referred customers. This standing reflects the care and respect the team provides during difficult times, ensuring that each service is unique and memorable.

Haven of Rest Funeral Home combines its long history in Gig Harbor with modern cremation and memorial options to support local families with dignity and care.
