The business traces its beginnings to 1946, when Newell Hunt founded it. Hunt had spent the previous twenty years working in furniture at Puyallup Furniture on Meridian before establishing his own endeavor on West Stewart. He built that building into more than 16,000 square feet of showroom and warehouse space, and brought what was known as the "ultra-modern" elevator to downtown, which still operates today. In the 1960s his son and daughter-in-law, Warren and Dorothy Hunt, joined the team, and together they built the business selling furniture and appliances. Their service and volunteering in various organizations over the years held them close to the heart of the community. The store describes its mission as bringing distinctive home furnishings and services to customers with integrity, and it welcomes questions and appointments. It is open Monday through Saturday, 10AM to 6PM.
