Happy Hounds Doggie Day Care, LLC

Happy Hounds Doggie Day Care, LLC is a pet sitter and dog daycare in Harrisonburg, VA, serving dog owners in the community and the surrounding area. The business provides full-day and half-day dog daycare, overnight boarding for daycare dogs, and occasional Barn Hunt dog sport events with practice sessions and trials hosted through Happy Ratters of Harrisonburg. Dogs attend for play, socialization, and supervised care while their owners are at work, and the facility operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with most Saturdays open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Happy Hounds holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5.

Before a dog can attend, an evaluation visit is required, either a half-day morning session or a full day, with scheduling handled by Marcie at 540-560-8530. Day One appointments are typically available within two weeks, though waits can lengthen at busy times such as the start of the school year. Puppies under five months are exempt from the evaluation but still need a Day One appointment so staff can plan for extra attention. Written proof of distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccination is required before any dog is accepted, the Bordetella vaccine is recommended, and dogs must be people-friendly and dog-friendly. Intact males over six months are not accepted.

The facility sits on Waterman Drive, positioned between Eastern Mennonite University and James Madison University on the west side of downtown Harrisonburg. The play yards and main room are visible from the entrance, and an annexed building next door houses overnight boarding with future classes planned. The location is roughly 0.3 miles from West Market Street, about half a mile from Westover Park, Morrison Park, and Waterman Elementary School, and within three-quarters of a mile of Memorial Stadium and Thomas Harrison Middle School. A positive rating from customers who have reviewed the business reflects the standing Happy Hounds has built serving dogs and their owners in Harrisonburg.
