Madison Spencer Architects is an architecture firm in Charlottesville, VA. Madison Spencer, AIA, leads the firm as architect and planner. He began his career writing the guidelines for the redevelopment of the Miller Park District in historic Chattanooga and assisting in the design of a new Quad at Princeton under the direction of Boston architect Fred Koetter. In 1986 he joined Eisenman Robertson Architects in New York, where he guided and assisted on residential designs and directed two large-scale international urban planning efforts, one for Jacque Robertson and the other for Peter Eisenman. He has since formed his own office, staffed with American and foreign talent. Spencer has undertaken projects with celebrated designers and antiquarians including Ralph Harvard, John Saladino, David Easton, and Suzanne Kasler, as well as garden designers George Carter and Xa Tollemache, reflecting an intense interest in collaboration. He has lectured on architecture and the arts at NYU, Sotheby's Institute, the University of Venice, the Georgian Society, and within the George F. Baker Houses in New York.
