Hand and Orthopedic Rehab

Hand and Orthopedic Rehab is a rehabilitation center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It specializes in the treatment of hand and upper extremity, pelvic floor, headache, dizziness, and joint and sport injury conditions, often those that follow post-surgical operations. Its therapists treat the conditions that limit a person's normal functionality and mobility in daily activity.

The practice was founded by Margo Jones Brady, PT, DPT, CHT, who graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Utah in 1977. She treated post-surgical patients referred by John Ream, MD, a pioneer in hand microsurgery in the Salt Lake valley, who saw the need for physical therapists to specialize in hand and upper extremity injuries. Margo opened Hand & Upper Extremity Rehab Specialists in July of 1978, pioneering the specialty of hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder therapy. In 1991 she was among the first physical therapists in Utah to earn the Certified Hand Therapist credential. Steve Crandall, PT, DPT joined the practice in 2001, bringing specialization in orthopedics and spine rehabilitation, and the business name evolved to reflect the full scope of the practice.

The staff includes board-certified orthopedic clinical specialists, board-certified sports clinical specialists, certified hand therapists, a pelvic physical therapist, and a certified athletic trainer and running gait analyst. Several therapists are certified in dry needling, and others hold Graston Technique, ASTYM, or Certified Hand Therapist credentials.

The clinic sits on 900 East, about half a mile from Vine Street and a short distance from Twin Peaks Elementary School, the Sports Mall, and the Salt Lake County Environmental Health Division.

Patients describe the therapists by name in reviews, crediting them with restoring use of a crushed elbow, guiding recovery after shoulder and hand surgery, and rebuilding strength after a knee injury. The practice holds a five-star rating across its reviews.
