Higher Ground Learning of North Salt Lake

Higher Ground Learning of North Salt Lake is a tutoring service in North Salt Lake, Utah. It provides customized, one-on-one learning experiences for students, with tutoring in nearly every subject, from second grade reading proficiency through high school AP Physics. Test preparation covers the SAT, ACT, AP, IB, GRE, and GMAT exams, along with academic support and university applications help. Sessions run 60 minutes and are available online or in person, and students typically meet with a tutor one to two times per week. The business holds a rating of 4.90.

The approach centers on matching each student with a mentor rather than teaching a fixed curriculum, on the belief that no two students are alike and neither should their tutor or curriculum be. Programs are tailored to the specific needs and personality of each student, and instructors work on study skills, structure, and strategy rather than only test content. An initial 60-minute consultation with a director is free, and instruction is designed to be taught online without missing a beat. Group and one-on-one options are both offered, including working through an entire accredited AP curriculum in courses such as Biology, Calculus AB and BC, and US History. The team includes a president with an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and degrees from the University of Utah, an executive director who graduated from Princeton University, and a managing director with a degree in philosophy from Brown University. Higher Ground has taught SAT and ACT prep classes across five continents, including on campuses in Santiago, Mexico City, and Cape Town.

The office sits on Pierpont Avenue, about a tenth of a mile from Pioneer Park and the public artworks SLC Pepper and Urban Ear, and roughly two-tenths of a mile from 300 West, Pioneer Square, and Madking's Fellowship Theater.

Families in North Salt Lake and the surrounding area looking for one-on-one academic support or standardized test preparation can arrange sessions in person or online, with tutoring built around the individual student rather than a fixed program.
