Valley Heart Center

Valley Heart Center is a medical clinic in Pharr, TX, on W Sam Houston Blvd. Founded by Dr. Harish Koolwal in 1993 after he moved to the Rio Grande Valley from McAllen, the clinic provides cardiovascular care to patients in the region. Its services center on the diagnosis and treatment of heart and circulatory conditions, including EKG, cardiac ultrasound, exercise and nuclear stress testing, cardiac catheterization, pacemaker implantation, nuclear imaging, drug therapy oversight, heart function studies, and annual cardiac physicals.

Dr. Koolwal completed his internal medicine residency at Coney Island Hospital in 1988 and his cardiology fellowship in 1990, where he received Best Intern and Outgoing Fellow awards. He went on to do a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Oklahoma Heart Center under Jan Voda, then served at Texas Tech University as Assistant Professor and Director of the CCU, as well as a consultant in Nuclear Cardiology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is a member of the American College of Cardiology. The clinic operates its own office-based Nuclear Imaging Lab, where non-invasive nuclear testing is performed to assess blood flow through the heart and identify narrowed or blocked arteries.
