Cleburne Animal Services

Cleburne Animal Services is a pet sitter and animal services provider in Cleburne, Texas, operating as a municipal law enforcement agency for the City of Cleburne. The division responds to calls involving at-large animals, animals in traps, cruelty complaints, and nuisance barking complaints. It maintains a shelter that provides a temporary safe haven for lost, abandoned, or unwanted animals, and works to find suitable adopters, reputable rescue groups, and loving homes for them. Services include animal bite investigation and local rabies control, low-cost microchip implant and registration, pet adoption programs including offsite events, carcass disposal, an animal intake program for City of Cleburne residents, and impound of stray or unwanted animals. The shelter also provides public education on bite prevention, rabies prevention, responsible pet ownership, and proper dog training and behavior. It holds a rating of 3.90.

The shelter enforces state health and safety codes and local ordinances as they pertain to animals, and promotes spay and neuter. It is located at 2375 Service Drive, with shelter hours Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trapping of nuisance wildlife, including feral cats, requires a trap agreement filed with Cleburne Animal Services before trapping begins, and trapping is suspended when the heat index reaches 95 degrees for an extended period. Trapping is not permitted for wildlife behaving normally; wildlife that has burrowed into homes, foundations, crawl spaces, attics, or under sheds is considered a nuisance. Trapped animals are removed from personal traps. The shelter also hosts low-cost vaccination clinics quarterly from 10 a.m. to noon, with rabies vaccination available; dogs must be leashed and cats in carriers, and Cleburne residency is not required.

The shelter sits on Service Drive, about half a mile from the US 67 bridge and roughly three-quarters of a mile from West Buffalo Creek. Lake George Marti is about eight-tenths of a mile away, and North Main Street is about nine-tenths of a mile from the site.

Cleburne Animal Services is committed to protecting and serving the citizens of Cleburne as well as the animals, combining enforcement of animal ordinances with adoption, education, and sheltering for the city's residents.
