Mean Mug Coffeehouse Southside

Mean Mug Coffeehouse Southside is a coffee shop in Chattanooga, TN, located at 114 W Main St. It serves breakfast and lunch alongside a full espresso menu, drip coffee, and Kyoto-style cold brew, with vegan and paleo options alongside traditional comfort food. Baked goods, including cinnamon rolls, biscuits, scones, muffins, and breads, are made in house daily. The Southside location is one of several Mean Mug Coffeehouse spots in Chattanooga and Fort Oglethorpe, GA, and operates Monday through Friday from 6am to 3pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 4pm.

Established in 2011 by Matt Lewis and Monica Smith, Mean Mug Coffeehouse is a locally owned and operated restaurant and coffee bar. The Main Street location helped pioneer the now-booming Southside area, described as a true live, work, and play part of town. In 2017, after six years of operating the first shop, the owners established Mean Mug Coffee Roasters, a small-batch single-origin coffee roaster that serves both retail and wholesale customers. The coffeehouse has been featured in USA Today for its biscuits and on the Food Network's show Cheap Eats for its cinnamon rolls, both made from scratch.

The shop sits on West Main Street, about a tenth of a mile from Market Street and South Market Street, and a short walk from Choo Choo Gardens.

Among the items on the menu, the scratch-made cinnamon rolls and biscuits have drawn national attention, with features in USA Today and on the Food Network's Cheap Eats.
