Coastal Kids Dental & Braces – Dorchester Road

Coastal Kids Dental & Braces - Dorchester Road is a pediatric dentist in North Charleston, SC, located at 8600 Dorchester Rd #104. The practice provides specialized pediatric dental care for patients from infancy through young adulthood. The office accepts all insurance and files claims, and is in-network with several carriers. Services include routine dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, dental fillings, dental crowns, and dental X-rays. The practice also partners with Coastal Family Orthodontics for orthodontic care, including traditional metal braces, clear or ceramic braces, and clear aligners, and works with Coastal Family Oral Surgery & Sedation for oral surgery and sedation dentistry needs.

The team takes a teach and treat approach, focusing on education and prevention during each visit. During cleanings, the dentists demonstrate brushing and flossing techniques, walk children through each instrument, and involve them in the process to build trust and transparency. New patients receive a Coastal Kids Dental & Braces T-shirt. The office is designed to be fun and relaxing, with video games to play while waiting and televisions on the ceiling to watch during exams. The dentists are trained to comfort apprehensive patients and take an individualized approach based on each child's personality.

Preventative care is a core part of the practice. The dentists recommend oral health exams twice a year, ideally during a child's bi-annual check-up. Dental sealants are applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to protect against decay, and the office guarantees sealants for three years, replacing them at no charge if needed. Fluoride treatments, applied as a sticky gel after cleaning, help strengthen enamel. For restorative needs, the team offers composite fillings as well as stainless steel crowns for back molars and white crowns for front teeth, typically completed in one visit. Digital X-rays and other modern safeguards are used to safely monitor children's developing teeth.
