Today, the association partners with more than 5,000 active REALTOR® members and affiliates, as well as the broader business community. It was founded to serve Horry, Georgetown, and surrounding counties as the primary real estate resource for its members and the community. The organization was formed through the merger of the separate South Strand, Myrtle Beach, and Conway REALTOR® boards, followed by the joining of the Georgetown Board of REALTORS®, which prompted the name change to Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS®. The Grand Strand Board of REALTORS® later merged with the association, and CCAR formed the Coastal Carolinas Multiple Listing Service.

The association provides its members with access to market statistics, apps, national and statewide associations, and statewide license and regulation updates. It maintains a full calendar of real estate-related events and trainings. CCAR gives members access to the Coastal Carolinas Multiple Listing Service, which allows agents to see a full picture of what is on the market in Horry and Georgetown Counties. The MLS ensures that listings are accurate and regulated by industry-accepted standards. CCAR also offers a facility for professional development and the exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system.

The association maintains a solid reputation among the customers it has served and a steady record of repeat and referred customers. It is comprised of elected officers and a board of directors, including President Will Davis and Chief Executive Officer Laura Crowther. The association celebrated 80 years of organized real estate along the Grand Strand in October. It operates the Coastal Carolinas Multiple Listing Service, which is controlled by the Real Estate Standards Organization.
