About Murrells Inlet Outpost
Murrells Inlet Outpost is a fishing store in Murrells Inlet, SC. It carries rods, reels, fishing gear, hunting supplies and other outdoor goods, and it is owned and run by Captain Ned Campbell, a Murrells Inlet native who has lived on and fished the Inlet waters since childhood. The store stocks the products needed for a day on the water, chosen with an eye to what actually works in local waters, and it aims to be a place where both tourists and locals can learn about new products and find items they might otherwise have to order online or travel to buy. Captain Ned also runs the Outpost's inshore charter boat, a 31-foot Contender that comfortably accommodates six passengers for a day of fishing.
Captain Ned graduated from the College of Charleston in 2005 and started R&R Charters with the purchase of his 31-foot Contender, Reel Hookin, with the goal of making a living doing what he loves. He later moved the company back to his hometown of Murrells Inlet to fish the waters he grew up on. He has been featured in SC Sportsman and Coastal Angler and has received accolades in the SC fishing community. He has chartered for Hall of Fame baseball player Wade Boggs, NFL Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and NBA player Kelvin Cato. He is a member of the Coastal Conservation Association and supports local conservation and the growth of Murrells Inlet. He is married to Brandy Campbell, a local Realtor, and is the father of three boys.
The store sits on US-17 Business, about a tenth of a mile from the Murrells Inlet - Garden City Fire District Station 1 Headquarters and roughly a third of a mile from Highway 17, Carolina Coast Surgery Center and Southern Urgent Care. The Robin Hood neighborhood is about four tenths of a mile away.
The Outpost opens at 6am every day of the week, including Saturday and Sunday. Captain Ned is on hand at the store and ready to talk fish with anyone who stops in.
