He completed a bachelor's degree in biology at Indiana University in Bloomington and a master's degree in biology at Purdue University before attending dental school at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, where he received the McDavid Dental Scholarship for academic excellence. Dr. Holly earned her Doctor of Medical Dentistry at the Medical University of SC and has volunteered with Special Smiles, Give Kids a Smile, St. Matthews Dental Clinic, Dental Missions, Doctors with a Heart, and fundraising for My Sister's Smile, as well as overseas dental missions in Venezuela, Ecuador, and Haiti. Dr. Champion graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis in 1991, completed a General Practice Residency in the Air Force, helped form Hixson Dental Group in Tennessee, and was honored in 2019 with the Tennessee Dental Association Fellowship Award for Distinguished Service.
