The Greenery has provided residential landscape services in the Lowcountry since 1973, founded by Berry and Ruthie Edwards. The company is 100% employee-owned, a structure implemented in 2003. Berry Edwards, formerly in textiles, purchased Hillside Landscape Nursery, which Ruthie renamed The Greenery, Inc., collaborating with artist Ralph Ballantine on the logo. The company’s garden center and gift shop are housed in a historic 1870s white clapboard church building, originally Bethlehem Baptist Church, which Ruthie Edwards purchased while searching for a location.

The staff includes Master Gardeners, horticulturists, designers, and educated gardeners who assist customers in selecting plants for specific yard conditions. The gift home shop, located within the former church, features coastal-themed and seasonal gifts, home décor, furnishings, lamps, terrariums, and garden-related ideas. The business operates with a focus on personalized service, attention to detail, and consistent client communications, catering to both small yards and elaborate landscapes.

The Greenery Garden Center Gift & Home maintains a solid reputation among the customers it has served, backed by an established track record built on a large base of customer reviews. This standing reflects the loyalty of clients who have relied on the company’s landscape maintenance and plant selection for decades.

Rooted in the Lowcountry since 1973, The Greenery Garden Center Gift & Home combines its historic church setting with expert horticultural knowledge to serve Hilton Head Island residents.
