SCSPLS Coastal Chapter

SCSPLS Coastal Chapter is a Surveyor organization in Hanahan, SC. The Coastal Chapter of the SC Society of Professional Land Surveyors was organized in the Fall of 1980 by local surveyors near the Charleston region who needed representation within the state society. Charter members decided to establish a local presence, with first meetings held at Carey Hillard's off of Rivers Avenue in North Charleston to serve Dorchester, Berkeley, and Charleston counties. The chapter meets on the last Tuesday of each month, excluding June, July, November, and December, from 5pm to 8pm for fellowship, networking, and professional development. Some of the original charter members remain in attendance today.

Christian Hunkin, a licensed professional land surveyor, serves as the current President. He brings over a decade of experience in civil engineering and land surveying, with a career spanning both the private and public sectors. Christian currently serves as a Staff Engineer at Forsberg Engineering & Surveying in Charleston, SC, where he leads site development and infrastructure projects. His previous roles include Project Execution Section Chief and Project Manager with the United States Air Force at Joint Base Charleston, where he oversaw mission-critical construction and engineering initiatives. He began his career as a Survey Crew Chief and AutoCAD Technician. As President, Christian is dedicated to advancing the surveying profession through education, collaboration, and advocacy, and is passionate about mentoring emerging professionals and fostering a strong community of surveyors across the Lowcountry. The President serves as the chief executive officer, presiding over meetings of the Chapter and Board of Directors, appointing committee members, and guiding the functions of the organization.
