University Center of Greenville (UCG) is a university in Greenville, SC, located at 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Suite A7. Established in 1987, UCG was created to increase access to higher education for the citizens and economic community of Greater Greenville. The center functions as a consortium that provides the technology, facilities, and support services necessary for academic program delivery. While the home institutions administer admissions, curriculum, and professors, UCG provides the local infrastructure for students to receive the same instruction and degrees as those on main campuses. Greenville Technical College is a member of UCG and maintains transfer agreements with many of the academic members.

The University Center of Greenville was chartered by the SC Commission on Higher Education and officially began its operations on the Greenville Tech campus. Greenville Tech purchased, renovated and equipped an abandoned factory adjacent to the Tech campus, and the new multi-story University Center of Greenville officially opened its doors. By 1993-94, the Center’s member universities had increased to six: Clemson University, Furman University, Lander University, SC State University, the University of SC, and the University of SC Upstate. As of 2022, nine prestigious academic institutions offer degree programs in partnership with UCG. Degree programs at the University Center of Greenville begin at the Junior and Senior level for bachelor’s Completion degrees. The home institution administers the admissions requirements, curriculum, and professors. Students apply directly to the university offering their program of interest and indicate UCG as their preferred campus.
