About Camilla Kitchen

Camilla Kitchen is a coffee shop in Greenville, SC. Located within M. Judson Booksellers, Greenville's downtown independent bookstore, Camilla Kitchen is the literary cafe serving stories you can taste. It holds a rating of 4.40 based on 24 reviews.

Having a kitchen at M. Judson was always part of the vision when the bookstore first opened its doors in July of 2015. The kitchen was integral to the story from the beginning, with lovely tartines and a sprouted lentil salad that still has people calling for the recipe. After learning a lot about running a bookstore and running a cafe, the decision was made to focus on learning how to be a bookstore, and The Chocolate Moose shared the space, bringing yummy cupcakes and delicious chicken salad under the roof. When the pandemic was hard and the cupcake world took a hit, The Chocolate Moose made the difficult decision to hang up their oven mitts, and the decision was made to give the Kitchen another try. Having learned a lot by running the coffee shop at the store in Auburn, Camilla Kitchen was born in September of 2020, which is why the date is incorporated into the logo.

Teryi Youngblood officially assumed the helm of Camilla Kitchen after being an important part of the story all along. She was invited to do the very first Sunday Sit Down Supper in October of 2015 with Pat Conroy, and it was a smashing success. Teryi's food is spectacular, but the fit with her and M. Judson is so much more than that. She delights in creating new dishes, collaborating with other local businesses, and telling stories about people who have inspired her. She has a big laugh and a bigger heart. It's important that everything they do and use comes from real people with their own stories, and between the ingredients gathered, the recipes used, and the people that do the making and eating, a million stories are combined into something new.

Camilla Kitchen sits on S Main St in downtown Greenville. The business has a solid reputation among the customers it has served, and its story is tied to the literary hub of M. Judson Booksellers, a cultural hive with a commitment to a well-curated book offering, funky gifts and vintage housewares, and special events and author signings.
