Its work includes custom welded steel frames, a distinctive alternative to traditional wood mouldings that brings a clean architectural aesthetic to contemporary artwork, photography, mirrors, and mixed media. The studio's portfolio includes two 30 by 40 inch oil paintings by Charleston artist Laurie Meyer, framed in gold-face deep black floater frames that preserve the depth and character of the canvas. A pair of 19th-century Mackenzie Tartan prints were framed as a coordinated set with deep green top mats, precision-cut triple reveals, and Nurre Caxton's Treviso Midnight Black moulding, each piece featuring three individually floated prints with hand-measured spacing and museum-grade glazing. A 30 by 40 oil on canvas by Charleston artist Susanna Walden was framed in a deep black and gold floater. Other projects include a Caymus Cabernet painting set within a sleek black cube frame inside a Treviso moulding, a watercolor framed in espresso-stained wood with precision double matting and Tru Vue Museum Glass, and a pair of over five-foot-tall grazing herd photographs upgraded with Tru Vue Optium Museum Acrylic and an acid-free white liner. Scott brings decades of experience from the corporate world, including leadership roles in sales and strategy with Sony Electronics, high-end broadcasting technology, and cloud computing. Professionally trained in custom framing, he combined that technical expertise with a lifelong passion for design to launch The DI Frame Studio.
