The University of SC is a university in Columbia, SC. The university serves undergraduate, graduate, transfer, international, and returning students, as well as prospective law, medical, and pharmacy students through dedicated professional schools. It holds a rating of 4.50 based on 8 reviews. The university was founded more than 200 years ago, with the first nine students arriving at SC College in 1805. Today it enrolls more than 6,500 graduate students from 49 states, four U.S. territories, and 83 countries, and offers 56 nationally ranked graduate degree programs. The Graduate School was established more than 115 years ago, and the university was one of the first to confer the doctoral degree. Ninety-eight percent of freshmen received financial aid last year. U.S. News and World Report has named the University of SC one of the nation's best values in public education, and Forbes has named it one of the top 20 employers in the state. Leadership is provided by President Michael Amiridis, the Board of Trustees, and the Faculty Senate. Campus life centers on landmarks like the Horseshoe, Founders Park, Williams-Brice Stadium, and Colonial Life Arena, with on-campus housing traditions stretching back to 1805. The University of SC has built a solid reputation among the students, families, and alumni it has served across more than two centuries as the state's flagship university in Columbia.
