Surcee's

Surcee's is an event venue in Charleston, SC, located on King Street in the heart of downtown. Housed in a historic 19th-century building that began as a candy shop, the venue was later known as Upstairs at Midtown, where over 1,000 celebrations were hosted beginning in 2010. The space was reimagined and expanded into Surcee's, blending the building's original character with modern amenities for private events. The venue offers four unique event spaces with versatile layout options, an outdoor rooftop deck with market lights, and an in-house food and beverage program featuring customizable menus, handcrafted cocktails, and seasonal specialties rooted in Lowcountry ingredients. Rentals include tables, chairs, flatware, glassware, and serveware, along with built-in speakers, wireless microphones, a portable TV screen, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The team behind Surcee's is led by founder Kathleen, a College of Charleston graduate who built her hospitality career with leading planning firms across the country before establishing the venue. Her background in global entertaining and meticulous event standards shapes the client experience from the first inquiry through the day of the event. Sofie, who also studied at the College of Charleston, leads the hospitality team after growing up around her family's hotel business in the New Jersey and New York area. Regina, a Lowcountry native and former Air Force spouse, rounds out the staff with an energy for hosting refined gatherings. Together, the team provides on-site management and collaborative planning for weddings, alumni functions, birthday celebrations, and corporate events.

The venue sits on King Street near Cannon Street, within roughly a tenth of a mile of the Woolfe Street Playhouse and Charleston Fire Department Station 6, in the Midtown neighborhood of downtown Charleston.

Surcee's draws on more than a decade of hosting experience and a setting shaped by Charleston's distinctive architecture and culinary traditions to give each event a sense of place that few downtown venues can match.
