Springfield Elementary School

Springfield Elementary School is an elementary school in Charleston, SC. It serves as a neighborhood school in the West Ashley area, enrolling students in grades K-5. The school is home to the Mustangs and operates within the Charleston County School District, which manages a network of urban, suburban, and rural schools spanning 1,300 square miles along the coast. In 2026, Springfield Elementary was voted Charleston's Best Public School. The school supports student health and learning through dedicated food and nutrition professionals and school nurses who bridge healthcare and education. Transportation is provided by district buses to support educational and extracurricular objectives.

The school is led by Principal Megan Williams, who joined Springfield Elementary as an Assistant Principal in 2012 and was named Principal in 2017. Ms. Williams graduated from Clemson University with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, and earned a Master's in Educational Leadership from The Citadel in 2009. She began her career in Charleston County in 2000 as a fifth-grade teacher at Charles Pinckney Elementary School and later served at Stono Park Elementary School in various instructional and leadership roles. Assistant Principal Sha'shawna Seabrook is a native of Charleston and a product of the district, having attended Mitchell Elementary, Courtney Middle, and Garrett Academy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Francis Marion University and a Master's of Education in Administration and Supervision from Southern Wesleyan University. Ms. Seabrook previously taught second and third grades at Memminger Elementary, served as Lead Teacher at Charleston Progressive Academy, and worked as an Assistant Principal at Philip Simmons Elementary in Berkeley County before returning to the district. Another assistant principal, Kevin Forse, also serves on the leadership team.

The school is located at 2130 Pinehurst Avenue in Charleston. The Parent-Teacher Association supports the school with a board of members including Leticia Wine as President, Kristen Richardson as Vice President, Hunter Kite as Secretary, and Stephanie Grimes as Treasurer. The PTA mission focuses on supporting children and youth, assisting parents in developing skills to raise their children, and encouraging parent involvement in public schools. The School Improvement Council includes parents, higher education representatives from the College of Charleston, teachers, and school administrators to guide school improvement efforts.
