He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of South Florida in 2001 and went on to receive his doctorate from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. He and his wife Melissa live in West Ashley with their three sons, where he coaches a youth soccer team and spends time cycling and surfing.
