Harken Cafe is a cafe in Charleston, SC, located at 62 Queen Street. The cafe operates on a counter service basis without accepting reservations, with hours from 7AM to 3PM Monday through Friday, 8AM to 3PM on Saturday, and 8AM to 1PM on Sunday.

Inspired by local fare and seasonal ingredients, Harken’s menu is whipped, kneaded, and baked from scratch using the freshest ingredients. Offerings include the Butter Me Up breakfast sandwich with Herby Cheese, Egg Souffle, and Pickled Shallot on a housemade Ricotta Biscuit, the Wholy City Quiche with Squash, Sweet Potato, Corn, and Rosemary in an EVOO Crust, and the Green Thing featuring Avocado, Sesame Tamari, and Bulls Bay Flake Salt on Harken’s Ciabatta. The menu also features the ‘Bonjour Charleston’ Parfait with Maple Cashew Granola, Sweet Potato Souffle, and Lowcountry Creamery Greek Yogurt, alongside housemade muffins, biscuits, scones, buns, and cakes made fresh daily. Gluten-free bread is available upon request.

Harken is the younger sister to The Harbinger, both establishments created by founders Greer and Cameron. The two became friends working at a coffee shop in Washington, D.C. in their 20s and have been making coffee side by side ever since. The Harken team describes themselves as a close-knit group of La Marzocco whisperers and snack savants who aim to create an environment of mutual respect. The space features exposed brick, warm woods, and subtle Old World influence, with seating available in a cozy dining room or on a shaded piazza.

Harken is an Ocean Friendly Restaurant that volunteers at beach clean ups. The cafe contributes monthly to We Are Family and Black Lives Matter CHS, works annually with Mad Park, donates time to Green Heart, supports the YWCA Eliminated Racism Program, donates cookies to Keep Charleston Beautiful, contributes to the Joseph Floyd Manor Food Drive, volunteers at One80 Place, and donates annually to Stamp Out Hate. Harken has also worked with Amore Kitchen, Heart Inclusive Art Community, Lowcountry Orphanage, SC Women’s Rights + Empowerment Network, Carolina Abortion Fund, Friends of the Lowcountry Lowline, Planned Parenthood, The Gibbes, and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
