Charleston Engineering

Charleston Engineering is an engineering firm in Charleston, SC, serving industrial, marine, and municipal clients across the Southeast. The firm holds a 4.00 rating based on four customer reviews. Founded in 1990, Charleston Engineering brings more than three decades of experience to smart manufacturing, industrial automation, and connected systems work, and the firm operates its own full mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering practice alongside its automation services. Their work covers sensor network and edge device deployment for real-time monitoring, custom PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA architectures, along with data collection, visualization, and analytics used to drive predictive maintenance and operational intelligence. They design ESD systems, fire protection controls, and systems that comply with ABS, Lloyd's Register, and UL standards, and they deliver cohesive control solutions across marine, industrial, and municipal environments, from conveyors and generators to facility infrastructure.

The firm's practice is built on Industry 4.0 technologies and open standards, covering intelligent automation software from PLC logic through remote monitoring and industrial networking, as well as cyber-physical systems and IIoT platforms. Their MEP work spans HVAC, power distribution, plumbing, and fire protection design for smart building infrastructure, with projects guided by values of responsibility, integrity, and service. The automation side is unified across marine, industrial, and municipal environments, giving operators integrated control and precise process performance.

The office sits on Wappoo Creek Drive, near the junction of Maybank Highway, Folly Road, and Old Folly Road, with McLeod Plantation Historic Site about a fifth of a mile away.

Three decades of continuous work in industrial automation, IIoT, and MEP design across the Southeast has made Charleston Engineering a long-established technical partner for connected manufacturing and infrastructure projects in the region.
