National Bakery

National Bakery is a coffee shop and Kosher bakery in Scranton, PA, located at 1100 Capouse Ave. The bakery has baked fresh daily since 1946, when it was founded as a family-owned business in the Pinebrook section of Scranton. It operates both a retail storefront and a wholesale operation, supplying daily bread orders to local restaurants, delis, hoagie shops, supermarkets, grocery stores and specialty retailers. Its retail selection includes European and American style artisan breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, cookie trays and bagel baskets, with cakes available to order. The bakery is known for its wiener buns, labeled all-purpose rolls, which are served throughout the Scranton area at restaurants and hoagie shops on Texas wiener days. Other offerings include hard rolls, french horns, rye bread, pullman bread and a 100 percent whole wheat bread. Both the bread and the pastry are made with old-fashioned baking and no preservatives.
