The Albert family has supplied these products for five generations, continuing the tradition started by Paolo Alberti, who came to America from Palermo, Sicily, and opened Alberti's Bakery in the early 1900s. In 1941, Paolo’s son Joe joined forces with other Sicilian bakers to form ATV Bakery. After Vecchio sold his stocks in the 1950s and Tomasi retired in 2004, the operations remained solely with the Albert family. Brothers Joe and Brad still use the original recipes that date back to the bakery’s founding with a workforce of five.

With a workforce of more than 40 employees, the company produces traditional crusty breads that are all natural, contain no preservatives, and are low-sodium. This approach distinguishes the bakery from others, particularly as health concerns have increased. The business continues to supply the same original-recipe, hearth-baked breads and rolls that Paolo brought over from Sicily, preserving a historic part of Reading’s Italian bakery tradition.
