Alberta Veterinary Care

Alberta Veterinary Care is a veterinarian in Portland, Oregon, serving dogs, cats and small pets from a location on NE Alberta Street in the Alberta Arts District. The hospital offers canine and feline wellness care across every life stage, including puppy and kitten care, adult dog and cat care, and focused senior care. Its services also cover dental care, dermatology and skin care, general surgery, laser surgery, and diagnostic work such as ultrasound and video otoscopy and rhinoscopy. Microchip implantation, nutrition and diet guidance, and pharmacy services round out the offerings. The practice is led by Dr. Justin Cates, alongside Dr. Abigail Rife and Dr. Julian Lackey.

The hospital describes its mission as partnering with owners to provide exceptional care in a friendly, safe and comfortable environment, treating pets both when they are ill and through preventative care meant to keep them healthy for life. Alberta Veterinary Care performs laser surgery using a Co2 laser whenever possible, a technique in which only the laser light beam touches tissue rather than a scalpel or scissors that can bruise or crush it. The staff includes Chelsea, the office manager, whose particular interest is the special needs of senior dogs and cats, and Amanda, the lead veterinary technician, who began working in veterinary medicine in 2003. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
