Glen Dowden, a 1939 graduate of the Kansas City School of Embalming, purchased the business in 1953 and renamed it Dowden Funeral Home. His son, Hal Dowden, joined the operations in 1963 after receiving his degree from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Service. Max Roberts joined the team in 1980 after graduating from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. After Hal Dowden sold the business in 1998, Max Roberts managed the location until he and his son, Dylan Roberts, purchased it in January 2014, renaming it Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.

Max Roberts, a licensed funeral director and embalmer, has served the community since July 1980. He is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association. Max previously served as Fire Chief for the Heavener Fire Department for 25 years and was named Heavener Citizen of the Year in 2016. Dylan Roberts, Max’s son and partner in daily operations, graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s Degree in Funeral Science in 2004. Dylan is an active member of the Heavener School Board of Education, serves as President of the Heavener Chamber of Commerce, and is a volunteer fireman with Heavener Fire and Rescue. Janie Roberts has been employed with the funeral home since August 2015.
