Lassiter Drug

Lassiter Drug is a pharmacy in Del City, OK. The pharmacy specializes in compounding personalized medications for both humans and animals, covering areas such as pain management, veterinary medicine, pediatrics, pregnancy, and menopause. Beyond compounding, the pharmacy administers seasonal vaccinations for influenza and pneumonia, stocks hard-to-find nutritional products from brands including Mason, Pharmanex, Metagenics, and Barlean's, and operates the OK Wellness Center, which provides cholesterol, bone density, BMI, and blood-sugar screenings aimed at reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Prescriptions are typically filled within five minutes, and customers can request refills by phone, online, or by transfer.

The pharmacy was founded by John Lassiter in April 1970, shortly after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, and he has been working as a pharmacist since graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1963. Lassiter Drug was among the first independent pharmacies in Oklahoma to operate with an in-house computer system. The original store opened inside the Gibson Discount Center and, after that store closed in 1988, the pharmacy relocated to an adjacent building before moving to its current facility at 3252 SE 29th Street in the fall of 2004. The current team includes Shonda Lassiter, a pharmacist since 1999 and a Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy graduate who founded the OK Wellness Center following a 1998 internship with the National Community Pharmacists Association in Washington, D.C., as well as Debra Rushing, who has been with the pharmacy since June 1975 after graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1975 and who mentors pharmacy students and is active in the State Pharmacy Association.

The pharmacy sits on Southeast 29th Street, roughly a fifth of a mile from High Spirits Park and Cherry Creek, about four-tenths of a mile from Trosper Park, and within three-quarters of a mile of both Little Harvard Learning Center and Epperly Heights School.

More than five decades after opening, Lassiter Drug continues to compound custom medications and provide personalized pharmacy care to Del City and the surrounding Oklahoma City area.
