Fairfield Coffee draws its name and identity from Fairfield Chair Company, a furniture manufacturer that has been crafting bench-made upholstery and casegoods in Lenoir, NC, since 1921. The company serves residential, commercial, and senior living sectors with custom fabric and finish options. Fairfield operates an exclusive To-The-Trade program for design professionals, offering perks such as 15 percent off the first order, access to in-stock and custom upholstery and casegoods, on-demand inventory and pricing, and quick delivery times. In-stock items ship in 2-3 days, while custom orders arrive in 4-6 weeks. Furniture is designed for life and crafted with care, featuring hand-applied finishes that require multiple steps from skilled American artisans. These finishes create unique pieces with variations in color, shading, burnishing, distressing, crackle, and texture. Each piece is treated as a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Fairfield’s familial roots date back to 1799, when James Harper was born in Fairfield, PA. In 1820, he relocated to the foothills of NC and created a chain of mercantile and hardware stores in the Lenoir area. He built his family home, Fairfield Plantation, in 1825. James Harper Beall, the future founder of Fairfield Chair, was born at the Fairfield House in 1868. In 1921, James Harper Beall, Sr. purchased the bankrupt Ethel Chair Company, recapitalized it, and relaunched it as Fairfield Chair Company. The company expanded its facilities in Lenoir over the decades, opening a new showroom in 1970 and Plant #2 in 1971. The Beall family secured full ownership in 1984. Fairfield broadened its product line to serve the Senior Living sector in 2001 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021. During the global pandemic in 2020, the company attained essential business status and produced lifesaving masks and gowns for health care personnel. Fairfield is also an expert in custom designs, managing projects from concept to design and sample to service.

Fairfield Coffee brings the enduring legacy of Fairfield Chair Company to the Fairfield community. With over a century of craftsmanship and a commitment to exceptional quality, it offers a distinctive local experience rooted in American manufacturing heritage.
