The business was started by a local farmer and cabinet maker, with the plant remaining next to the original farm in the rolling hills of Holmes County. Originally known as Valley View Oak, the company acquired Tree Crowns Craftsman and Canal Dover Furniture before changing its name in 2015. The team includes Ryan and Lori Hershberger and a group of Amish and Mennonite craftsmen who build furniture by hand. They use a blend of modern machines and traditional techniques, such as hand-wiped stains and a state-of-the-art finish booth, to create heirloom-quality pieces. The craftsmen focus on bench-crafted details, ensuring each piece is built right the first time with attention to quality.

Canal Dover Furniture is known for its positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it, reflecting the satisfaction with their American-made, solid wood furniture. The business continues to deliver beautiful, functional furnishings to homes in Dover and Holmes County.
