The school is an extension of Team Chitwood, an established Gracie academy that was founded in 1994 and opened its original Strongsville location in 2018. Headquartered under brothers Shawn, Neil, and Craig Chitwood, all champion black belt instructors, Team Chitwood is a certified Gracie school. The Hinckley branch opened in 2022 under head instructor Luke Wittasek, a 3rd Degree Black Belt who is also a detective with a local department in North Central Ohio. Wittasek has over seventeen years of experience in Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and traveled weekly seventy-four miles one way to train with the Chitwood brothers before being approved to carry on their instruction at the Hinckley location. Classes for adults are scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:15 pm, with Saturday open mat running from 10:00 am to noon, and free introductory classes are offered to new students.

The location sits on Center Road in Hinckley, Ohio, where Team Chitwood North brings certified Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction to a growing northern Ohio community.
