John Colozza was born and raised in Macchiagodena, Italy, and became a pastry chef apprentice in Rome at the age of 17. He moved to the United States in the late 1960s and worked as a pastry chef at Cavoli's Italian Restaurant in Cleveland and as a baker at Fazio's Supermarket before opening his own bakery. Since the early 1990s, the bakery has been operated by their son, Angelo, and his wife, Joan. Angelo grew up in the Cleveland area, began working with his father in childhood, and learned baking and cake decorating from him and other bakers. He has more than 30 years of experience as a baker and cake decorator. Angelo and Joan have three children.

The bakery sits about 1.3 miles south of I-480 and roughly 500 feet south of Snow Rd., across from St. Charles Catholic Church.
