The Ken-Ton Closet began operation in January 2013 and was founded by Jill O'Malley as an offshoot of the activities of the Ken-Ton Parent Alliance. For the first six years, the Closet occupied three rooms in the Sheridan Parkside Building in the Town of Tonawanda. In July 2019, it moved to its current site at the former Jefferson School at 250 Athens Blvd. The entrance is on the Oakvale Blvd. side of the building between Loretta and Janes, accessed through Door 2 on the second floor. From this location, children can visit every other month to receive toiletries, three to four outfits, shoes, new socks and underwear, and specialty items such as winter coats, holiday clothing, and Halloween costumes.

Although it primarily provides support to families experiencing economic hardship, the Closet also distributes needed items to families facing difficulties such as fire losses or emergency foster placement. In 2025, the organization served 315 families with its in-house clothing program. This, combined with its school supply program, allowed it to positively impact 868 children in the community. The program is supported by a grant from the Kenmore Rotary Foundation.
