Refuah Health Center

Refuah Health Center is a medical clinic in Spring Valley, NY, operating from its Twin Avenue site at 5 Twin Avenue. The clinic is part of a larger Federally Qualified Community Health Center that has grown over more than 25 years into a multi-specialty healthcare organization serving the Hudson Valley. Members have access to adult primary care, pediatrics, behavioral health, cardiology, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, optometry and an on-site optical shop, podiatry, pulmonology, radiology, rehabilitation, urology, dentistry, acute care, case management, and a wellness center, along with pediatric otolaryngology and pediatric rheumatology. The center is open 365 days a year and offers extended hours, no-cost transportation for members, and after-hours access to on-call medical, dental, and OB-GYN physicians.

Refuah Health Center was founded in 1992 by a group of local residents who were concerned about the lack of affordable healthcare in New Square, New York and the surrounding area, a region that had been federally designated as a Medically Underserved Area. The center opened its doors in 1993 with a mission to provide high-quality, comprehensive medical, dental, and supportive services to all patients regardless of ability to pay. In 2002, Refuah received Section 330(e) Community Health Center funding and now serves as the area's leading Federally Qualified Community Health Center. Beyond clinical care, the Patient Services Department helps members with insurance enrollment, scheduling outside consultations, referrals, and locating medical equipment or medications. The organization reports that 88% of expectant mothers give birth without a C-section, compared to 67% across New York State and the US, and that it holds the lowest hospital admissions rate in NYS for preventable conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, pneumonia, and asthma.

The Twin Avenue location sits near the Spring Valley Post Office, about 0.4 miles away, and roughly half a mile from Saint Josephs School. The clinic is also within a quarter mile of Columbia Engine Company Number 1.
