Islander Pools and Spas is a locally owned and operated third-generation business. It began in 1959 when brothers Carmen and Goody Maiuccoro accepted two Easy Do swimming pools as a trade-in for a car. They chose to focus on pools rather than continuing their Chrysler Imperial car dealership, renaming the business Imperial Pools. In 1968, the brothers moved into a new 40,000-square-foot facility on Central Avenue in Colonie, which served as a manufacturing plant and retail store. In 1986, the business split, with Rocco DiBianco and John Maiuccoro dividing operations. Rocco and Marti DiBianco, along with Dick Hutchinson, formed Islander Pools and Spas and remained at the original Central Avenue location. Their son Chris DiBianco, who had worked in the business since 1986, purchased the retail side in 1988 and modernized the facility. The company celebrates its 65th year in business in 2024.

The business carries top-quality brands from Radiant and Sharkline, offering many models, shapes, and sizes of pools. It features FreshWater IQ, an in-line self-monitoring salt system that maintains clean water with less effort. The company has a warehouse full of product and employs four installation crews to ensure professional and quick installation. It is a member of the SPARCO Distribution Network, which allows it to offer low prices and access to new products. Islander Pools and Spas is a four-time recipient of the Aqua100 award, recognizing it as one of the top 100 swimming pool dealers in the country, and has received several national pool design medals. It operates a 15,000-square-foot showroom in Colonie and a satellite location in Ballston Spa, serving customers in the upstate New York area.
