Pride Performing Arts Inc.

Pride Performing Arts Inc. is a dance studio in Sayville, NY. It is a non-profit performing arts organization for students of all ages, offering acting classes, plays, and musicals for kids and teens. The studio was founded by Phyllis Kaye, who began writing and producing her own shows a half-century ago while growing up in Virginia. She performed in over one hundred shows, directed youth productions, served as a theater advisor at a number of schools, and taught private classes before working at Airport Playhouse and Kids for Kids Productions, where she created the Players' Club. Music educator Carl J Ferrara has taught for 30 years and is a member of NYSSMA, NAfME, and SCMEA, where he was Co-chairman for the All-County Choruses for six years; he is also an official NYSSMA Voice Adjudicator, has written two musicals, and serves as Music Director for productions and cabarets across Long Island and NYC. Instructor Aaron Paulley first stepped on stage as a Lost Boy in Peter Pan.

Productions have included Alice by Heart, a musical inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland set during the London Blitz, and Spring Awakening, presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. The studio's staging of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan was noted by The Suffolk County News for lively costumes and sets that transformed the space into a London flat and Neverland. Summer registration includes a 2026 Teen Summer Show open to students entering grades 8 through college seniors, with auditions on June 21st and 22nd at 6pm, rehearsals Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm, and performances August 7th through 9th. The studio also runs a Double Good Popcorn fundraiser.

The studio sits on North Main Street, steps from Sparrow Park and the Sayville Fire Department, about a tenth of a mile from the Sayville Library and Middle Road. The entrance is in the back next to the Aegean Cafe, reached through the Center Street parking lot between Greene and Railroad Avenues.
