The funeral home traces its history to 1947, when it was established at 279 South Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst under the ownership of Mr. Choma. In that era most funerals were conducted in the home of the deceased, and as that practice gave way, services came to be held in Mr. Choma's living room. In September 1953 he built Lindenhurst Funeral Home at 424 South Wellwood Avenue. Mr. Choma sold the funeral home in 1960 to Mr. Daniel J. O'Sullivan, and it was expanded on the north side and rear of the building during his ownership. After his death in 1970 his sons took over, and in April 1980 Mr. Gordon A. Werner purchased the funeral home and renamed it Lindenhurst Funeral Home Inc., later buying the two houses behind it to expand the parking lot.
